THE CANVAS CLUB
Fun, creative and educational during-school or after-school classes for children aged 2 to 13 years.
The Canvas Club Schools Program celebrates the magic of creativity in an innovative world by teaching children conscious curiosity through creative crafting.
WHAT’s it all about?
Combining arts & crafts with STEM skills provide a platform for creative expression that nurtures imagination. Problem solving, decision making and processing skills are all innate to a crafting activity.
LEARN TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
We encourage young creative minds to express their ideas through the process of exploring materials, designing, building, making mistakes, and envisioning creative solutions.
Standard school subjects mostly entail problems with single solutions. Canvas Club projects have unlimited outcomes and teach children to solve problems in an original, creative and often abstract way. This will help them in ‘real life’ where they continuously face situations with multiple possibilities.
Canvas Club classes teach children to work and think like innovators and inventors.
BE FREE & CREATIVE
Canvas Club provides a platform for creative expression that nurtures imagination.
Unlike academics and sports, arts and crafts does not promote competition. On the contrary, it helps convert negative energy into positive habits.
At Canvas Club, children come to class and are presented with a new exciting project every week, they experiment with different materials (from paint to pool noodles) and create explosively awesome craft toys for hours of play afterward!
Children are signed up for the term and the cost works out roughly R90/ N$90/ NZ$11 per class per child, depending on the number of weeks in the term. We provide all the materials and supplies.
BOOK A FREE DEMO
We offer a free demo class at your school. This would give you and your students a feel of what our classes are all about. After the demo class, the classes will be hosted on a weekly basis.
Term bookings are made through our online booking and payment system. We create a unique URL for your school (e.g. www.canvas.club/curro-brackenfell) through which parents can book and pay via Card, SnapScan or EFT.
WHAT DOES THE SCHOOL DO?
We would require a classroom to host the classes and a weekly time slot(s) that suits. Assistance to marketing (an email to parents or feature in your newsletter) would also be appreciated.

why arts and crafts?
PROMOTES CREATIVITY, PROBLEM SOLVING AND INNOVATION
Arts & crafts provide a platform for creative expression that nurtures imagination. Problem solving, decision making and processing skills are all innate to a crafting activity.
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
The more creative you are, the less likely you are to lose your job to a robot one day! While robots may be better than you at calculating and diagnosing problems, they aren’t very good at creating original content, thinking outside the box or being abstract.
Most craftwork can be achieved in more than one way. Unlike maths where one doesn’t have much flexibility, crafts teach students that they can achieve the same result through a different method. This will help them in real life where they continuously face situations with multiple possibilities.
ENCOURAGES SELF EXPRESSION
Arts & crafts allow for the development of a sense of personal identity and teaches children to express themselves; giving parents and teachers insight into what a child is feeling, thinking and experiencing.
ENCOURAGES SOCIALISING, BUILDING FRIENDSHIPS AND LEARNING TO HELP OTHERS
Interacting with others with the same interests provides children the opportunity to socialise and build friendships. Children assist classmates in sharing techniques and ideas.
BOOSTS SELF ESTEEM
Arts & craft activities create a sense of achievement inside children and boosts their self esteem. Teaching a child to create something tells them that they are in control. This builds immense confidence in them.
Unlike academics and sports, arts & crafts does not promote competition. On the contrary, it helps convert negative energy into positive habits.
DEVELOPS FINE MOTOR SKILLS
Arts & crafts helps develop bilateral coordination and improves fine motor skills as projects involve moving and using the hands and fingers.
TEACHES STEM SKILLS
Arts & crafts not only incorporates STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) elements but it teaches valuable STEM techniques, models and concepts that sculpt the imagination.
TEACHES TIME MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING
Projects need to be planned and time needs to be managed to complete the project in time.
